Business Category

Generally business migrants will be existing business owners or investors. Classes are varied and criteria complex but usually a successful applicant will have :

• A successful business background going back at least the last 4 years
• Be aged less than 55
• Show a turnover for any 2 of the last 4 years of $300,000
• Have an ownership interest in the business of 51 per cent of the business where the turnover is less than AUD400 000 per annum, 30 per cent of the business where the turnover is AUD400 000 or more per annum or 10 per cent where the business is a publicly listed company
• At least $500,000 in net personal assets (other classes will require more) plus sufficient personal assets to settle in Australia (around Aus$50,000 per family of four per annum)
• A business proposal or plan of your business intentions in Australia
• State sponsorship granted on the basis of acceptable business proposal (business proposals for regional areas are given favourable treatment)
• Initial visa will be provisional (temporary) with the provision for granting of permanent residency within 2 to 4 years if conditions are met.
